The Neurotechnology Innovation and Impact Institute (N3I) at West China Hospital, Sichuan University, is building the world’s first end-to-end ecosystem for neurotechnology innovation—from identifying important clinical problems and developing novel technologies to clinical validation, regulatory translation, commercialization, and company creation. We invite passionate scientists, engineers, clinicians, and entrepreneurs to join us in transforming breakthroughs in neuroscience and engineering into technologies that improve people’s lives.
We are currently recruiting at all career stages, including interns, graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and Principal Investigators at the Assistant, Associate, and Full Professor levels. Successful candidates will be based at our Xiamen campus in Fujian Province and will collaborate closely with colleagues at our second research hub in Chengdu, creating a highly integrated research environment that combines world-class neuroscience, engineering, clinical medicine, and entrepreneurship.
Research at N3I spans the complete translational pipeline. Depending on their interests and expertise, researchers will develop novel neurotechnologies using non-invasive and invasive approaches, evaluate them in preclinical and clinical studies, and help advance the most promising innovations toward clinical adoption and commercial success. We are particularly interested in applicants who are driven to solve important clinical or societal challenges and who enjoy combining neuroscience, engineering, artificial intelligence, clinical medicine, or related disciplines to create solutions with real-world impact.
Our work is supported by unique translational infrastructure. Researchers will have access to the Neurotechnology Translation Readiness Assessment (NTRA) framework (http://neurotechassessment.org), a comprehensive methodology for accelerating successful neurotechnology translation that will soon be published in Nature Reviews Bioengineering. They will also be able to take advantage of BCI2000 (http://www.bci2000.org, Schalk et al., 2004), the world’s most widely adopted platform for brain-computer interface research, which has enabled thousands of studies across laboratories worldwide.
We welcome applicants from a broad range of backgrounds, including neuroscience, biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, software and systems engineering, signal processing, machine learning, clinical neuroscience, neurology, neurosurgery, rehabilitation medicine, and related fields. We value curiosity, creativity, technical excellence, and a desire to translate scientific discoveries into technologies that benefit patients and society.
