Pioneering Neurotechnology Innovation

The Neurotechnology Innovation and Impact Institute (N3I) is physically located in Xiamen (Fujian Province) and Chengdu (Sichuan Province) in China. It is focused on addressing important problems of humanity using neurotechnology through a unique three-stage approach. The first stage, idea-generation/selection, iteratively identifies a distinct set of promising problems and corresponding neurotechnology methods. The second stage, basic and translational neurotechnology R&D, expands and combines these methods into sufficiently validated prototype solutions. The third stage, incubation/commercialization, translates those prototype solutions into commercially viable products. To support activities in these three stages, we develop and maintain a unique neurotechnology translation readiness assessment (NTRA) tool (serving stage 1), a BCI2000-based software/AI platform (serving stage 2), connections to industry (serving stage 3), and consistent communication/marketing channels as well as training opportunities for neuroscientists, neuroengineers, clinicians, and entrepreneurs, serving all three stages.
